Nissan Altima 2013 Price and New Car Review

For 2013, the Nissan Altima has evolved. Not conservatively, but boldly. It is much better spiced, meatier and wider than the previous-gen Altima. Is this enough to claw sales away from Camry?

The 2013 Nissan Altima is lighter, longer and sleeker than the outgoing car. With a new, noticeable grill, sloping roofline that gives it a coupe like silhouette and improvements all around, the new car certainly looks a serious contender in the mid size car segment.

Nissan calls this the most innovative Altima ever. The 2013 Nissan Altima comes with remote engine start, a first in the segment, as standard on all versions. Some serious research has gone into designing the seats of the new Altima.

According to research, the least fatiguing seats are those that come closest to a neutral posture – a relaxed position that the human body takes in a weightless environment or zero gravity. Nissan claims, the Altima seats help reduce muscular and spinal loads and improve blood flows thereby helping reduce fatigue over long periods behind the wheel.

The 2013 Nissan Altima also features safety technologies available only in premium cars until now. These include blind spot warning, lane departure warning and moving object detection system in addition to a rear view camera.

Two engine options are available. The entry level 2.5 litre DOHC 16 valve in-line four cylinder engine is capable of 182 horsepower and 24.9kg-m of torque while the award winning 3.5 litre engine is rated at 270 horsepower and 35.7kg-m of torque. The engines are mated to a new generation continuous variable transmission (CVT) providing better performance and increased fuel efficiency of 18% over the 2012 Nissan Altima.

Multimedia offerings on the 2013 Nissan Altima include Bluetooth hands free phone, 7 inch colour touch display, navigation and Bose premium audio systems on top spec versions.
